Alex Lim Thye Aun, Advertising Jury


Born in an island of Penang, Malaysia, Alex left for Australia at the
age of 18 to pursue his degree in Graphic Design at Monash University.
After graduating, he came to Singapore and began his career as a
graphic designer in 1994. 4 years later, fuelled by an interest in
advertising, he joined Wunderman Cato Johnson as an art director and
within 2 years built up an impressive portfolio and was awarded Best
New Art Director in the Singapore Creative Circle Awards 2000.

Building upon his success, he joined Bartle Bogle Hegarty Singapore in
2001 where he produced the world’s most awarded print campaign of 2003
as recognized by The Gunn Report. His work for Levi’s Women’s Classic
501 picked up awards at all the major shows including a coveted Silver
Nomination and 2 Acceptances at D&AD, Best of Show, 2 Golds and 5
Silver Spikes at the Media Awards, 2 Golds and 2 Silvers at AdFest, 1
Merit at The One Show, 9 Silvers and 4 Bronzes at the Singapore
Creative Circle Awards and was also a winner in the New York Art
Directors Club.

Moving on to BBDO Singapore in December 2003 as Senior Art Director, he
won another Silver Nomination at D&AD for Simple Make-Up Remover within
his first few months. His recent works for Pizza Hut Delivery – Part of
Home-Movies and Nicorette Gum also scooped 2 Silvers, 1 Bronze Pencils
and 4 Merits at The One Show, 3 Silver Spikes and 3 Certificates at The
Media Awards in Shanghai, 3 Silvers and 1 Bronze Statues at The Clio
Awards, 4 Bronzes at Adfest, 1 Acceptance at D&AD and 2 Silver Lions at Cannes Advertising Festival last year.

Alex is currently Head of Art at BBDO Singapore.
